About Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic, happens to be one of the oldest cities in the Caribbean. With a rich historical heritage, some of the city’s buildings date back to the 1500s and is well known for its beautiful architecture. This charming old city has been listed in the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Sites list and deservedly so.

The cuisine found in the city is a culinary marvel that has influences of Spanish, African and indigenous Taíno cuisines and combines elements from each of these cuisines to create mouth-watering dishes that you just can’t get enough of. Some of the dishes that you absolutely must try after you take a flight to Santo Domingo are Empanada, La Bandera, Moro de guandules con coco, Habichuelas con dulce, Sopa de mondongo and Arroz con maiz.
